Travel

Follow us as we travel around the country. Below are my recent posts about our travels. The table below summarizes our travels while RVing.

  • Where Is Home October 28, 2023Where Is Home
“Don’t you ever go home?” a woman asked me after hearing about our nomadic lifestyle. After thinking about her question I decided I am home. See why my home needs an RV to experience its depth and its breadth.
  • Towing in the Wind October 11, 2023Towing in the Wind
After three days with the wind in Kansas and eastern Colorado blowing and gusting against the left side of our trailer as we traveled west gave me time to think about towing against the wind. When we headed west from Abilene …
  • Rain, Rain, Go Away August 11, 2023Rain, Rain, Go Away
When the rain threatened to spoil activities when I was a child we would chant: “Rain rain, go away! Come again another day!” Our hope was that the rain would go away. Now, as an RVer, that chant has a very different meaning.
  • Camping Diary 2023 June 30, 2023Camping Diary 2023
This year we are planning our trips as a series of excursions, each having a different objective. Each section describes an excursion and includes a map.
  • The Best One-Mile Hike March 17, 2023The Best One-Mile Hike
This trail had me on my knees more times in an hour than any other hike! Every few steps we saw a wonderful example of a plant in bloom, a great view of the desert, or wildlife.
  • King Canyon – Saguaro National Par… March 11, 2023King Canyon - Saguaro National Park
What a difference a three months make in the Sonora Desert! We previously hiked this trail in December and it looked dry and tan. In March, after a wet winter, the desert looked lush! Many of the flowers are very …
  • Flowers in the Desert March 2, 2023Flowers in the Desert
Following a few warm days and light rains we dashed a few miles north to see the flowers that had bloomed at Picacho Peak State Park. Several other people had the same idea. Fortunately the local rangers had made additional parking available near the most popular trailhead.
  • Four Big States in Four Days November 13, 2022Four Big States in Four Days
We did not intend to travel this far this quickly on this trip. Yes. Before we became RVers we typically drove four to eight hours every day as fast as the road would allow. In those days we might have covered even greater distances in the same time.

States Visited while RVing

We have visited all 50 states and had residences in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Connecticut, Washington, New York, Kentucky, and Indiana. Touring with our trailer we can visit places at a more leisurely pace. We only list states below after we have stayed there at least a night in our travel trailer.
