Following a few warm days and light rains we dashed a few miles north to see the flowers that had bloomed at Picacho Peak State Park. Several other people had the same idea. Fortunately the local rangers had made additional parking available near the most popular trailhead.
We met and chatted with several people on the steep narrow trail to the saddle between the two peaks. As we climbed the predominant flowers changed with the altitude. The trail ended just beyond the saddle at a bench where we ate our snack and looked down the valley toward Mount Lemon. The views on the way south were just as spectacular.
