A Lesson for April 14th

Psalm 147:7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre. 8 He covers the heavens with clouds, prepares rain for the earth, makes grass grow on the hills.

I like watching the rain. I think of the rain as God baptizing the earth, cleansing it for new growth. As the grass becomes green this time of year it becomes easy to smile as new life bursts forth from the ground that a few days before had been hard and cold. Spring flowers burst forth glowing with the sun. The Psalmist reminds us to turn our smiles into melodies, our melodies into songs of thanksgiving to the Lord for the renew of life.

  1. I loved this! How appropriate for this time of year. Yes, I’ve noticed the beautiful flowers all over the neighborhoods, and it is truly a welcome sight. The trees are turning green, bushes are flowering and greening up, and the birds sound very happy with their songs. We have a nest in the corner of our house, and I ask God to protect it, since it is very visible to the other birds. The sounds and smells and sights of spring do remind me of God’s beautiful creations and the renewing of the earth. It also renews our souls!
